The Opportunity

As a Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will play a key role in raising awareness of our programs, sharing powerful stories, and helping newcomers feel welcome. By creating engaging content and ensuring cohesive messaging, you’ll connect with diverse audiences and showcase the positive work we do for immigrants and refugees.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote Newcomer Connections programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to ensure unified messaging.
  • Create compelling content for newsletters, blogs, social media, and promotional materials.
  • Manage social media presence and produce content that engages and informs.
  • Track and analyze marketing performance to optimize strategies.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts within budget and IRCC guidelines.
  • Foster media relationships and handle interview requests to elevate YMCA’s presence.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or College diploma in a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills.
  • Experience in social media management, photography, and video production.
  • Proficiency in graphic design (Adobe InDesign, Canva) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of the immigrant and refugee community is a strong asset.
  • Fluency in English (minimum IELTS benchmark 6); knowledge of other languages is beneficial.
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check.
